East Timor Team

Located on Southeast Asia’s easternmost islands is the land of East Timor and a small village of roughly 1,000 people, home to a Pioneers team. The team splits its time between providing education and training through a community center and pursuing agriculture work through a plantation farming business.

The community center offers a kindergarten, English lessons and a teacher-training program that equips local teachers with skills they can use in the classroom. You can join them in these ministries as they serve the people and share Jesus with them.

The farming business produces food for the community and allows local partners to provide for their families while learning about how God is the ultimate provider. Come prepared to get your hands dirty and see the joys and challenges of living from the land. Prepare for harvest and help package the coffee, rice and vegetables to be sold, distributed in the community, and used for school lunches at the community center. Have a passion for business? There may be opportunities to assist with administration and work with the team as they navigate production, sales and distribution.

No experience in these areas is necessary to join this team.

Activities

• Provide training to village teachers
• Assist in teaching kindergarten
• Engage in evangelism and discipleship with families and co-workers
• Learn about the value of nutrition in the school kitchen
• Participate in food production on the farm business
• Work on the plantation by growing and harvesting coffee, rice and vegetables

• Be mentored by and learn from missionaries with 20 years of experience
• Be part of Bible studies with the community
