Orlando Internships

Develop your professional skills and gain a hands-on missions experience while spending a summer at our mobilization base.

Intern Annie

“I was able to be super hands-on, which was cool…I felt like what I was doing mattered.”

Annie, a summer intern in 2022 who studied communications at her university, served as a production assistant for our video team.  She joined the other video producers in conversations about possible projects. She worked on storyboarding and script writing. And Annie also learned to set up and operate lights, cameras and audio equipment.

For a taste of what a Pioneers internship has to offer, read a full interview with Annie and her intern colleague, Jessie.

Organizational Strategy

Are you curious about how missions organizations make decisions, solve problems, and turn ambitious goals into real-world results? By interning with the Strategy Team, you will join a collaborative team that takes current best practices in organizational strategy and innovation and applies them to some of Pioneers’ most pressing questions and opportunities.

This internship is designed for a student who enjoys learning quickly, asking thoughtful questions, organizing complex information, and helping turn ideas into action. You do not need to arrive with every technical skill already mastered. We are looking for someone who is motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, and excited to contribute.

You will learn about and support projects involving strategic planning, research and analysis, qualitative and quantitative survey analysis, performance measurement, process improvement, and much more. All these tools are shaped and guided by a deep desire to see the gospel shared and churches planted among the unreached.

Rather than being assigned routine tasks, interns will have opportunities to contribute to meaningful work products, collaborate with staff and leaders, and build a portfolio of professional experience.

Grant Writing

The Grant Writing Intern works directly with the Global Projects Manager on the Advancement Team. This role blends writing and relationship-building: approximately half of the intern’s time is spent developing fundraising materials, while the other half is spent collaborating with missionaries and Major Gifts Officers. Early in the internship, the intern will join meetings to identify foundations to pursue, learn about field projects, and plan the writing pieces needed to support donor and foundation engagement. Assignments may include proposals, letters of inquiry, program logic models, project descriptions, and other grant-related materials. This is a fundraising role—not a journalism or general communications position. If you enjoy both writing and connecting with people, then this role is for you!

Applicants will be asked to upload two to three writing samples with their application. Samples may include class papers, online articles, short stories, or other work that demonstrates strong writing and the ability to adapt to different styles.

Who should apply to Pioneers’ Orlando Internships?

We are looking for professionals who:

  • Are positive, passionate and hardworking with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills  and  a strong commitment to Christ.
  • Are college-aged adults.
  • Can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours a week  for ten weeks during the summer.
  • Have reliable transportation to our Orlando office (located in Lake Nona) and a phone and laptop they can use to work.
  • Enjoy being part of a fun and energetic team that is determined to give every people group the opportunity to hear the gospel.

* This internship also can count towards college credit if you are a student and your school approves it.

When is the program?

Our internship is a 10-week summer program in Orlando, FL. The 2026 program will take place from May 26 – July 31.

How do I apply?

You can start writing this chapter of your story by:

  • Choosing the intern position that is the best fit for you.
  • Submitting your application and resume through our online portal. A cover letter is not required. Only Grant Writing Intern applicants will be asked to submit additional documents.

After we review your information, we’ll contact you!

*Application deadline is March 13, 2026.

Is this a paid internship?

Each internship position is unpaid. Pioneers provides housing for interns who live outside of Orlando. Apartment rentals in our area range anywhere from $2,500 to $3,500 a month, and these high rates would make even paid internships difficult. Free housing makes this internship possible for interns each summer. Interns must provide their own transportation to and from the office.

Some other ways our interns have financially prepared themselves for the summer are:

  • Applying for an internship scholarship through their college. If you are a student, we encourage you to check if your school offers that opportunity.
  • Working part-time and saving before the intern program.

What happens after the internship?

You can expect a debrief and exit interview during the final week of the internship with our team. We hope each of our interns will finish our program with:

  • Professional skills that will open doors to future opportunities.
  • A deeper understanding of missions and the many ways they can be involved in missions and the global church.
  • Authentic relationships and a strong Christ centered community.

Since our program started in 2021, three former interns were hired to work at Pioneers Orlando base, two interns joined Pioneers-International and two other interns were hired at different non-profit organizations. While these outcomes are not guaranteed for every intern, our interns are equipped with highly marketable skills after they finish the program.

What’s Your Story?

God is writing a story about your unique role in missions and the global church. We want to invest in your professional, personal and spiritual development so you can be equipped for the next exciting chapter of your story!
