NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2025
Orlando Internships
Develop your professional skills and gain a hands-on missions experience while spending a summer at our mobilization base.
Applications close February 2, 2025.
“I was able to be super hands-on, which was cool…I felt like what I was doing mattered.”
Annie, a summer intern in 2022 who studied communications at her university, served as a production assistant for our video team. She joined the other video producers in conversations about possible projects. She worked on storyboarding and script writing. And Annie also learned to set up and operate lights, cameras and audio equipment.

About Pioneers
For 45 years, Pioneers has partnered with churches around the world to initiate church-planting movements among unreached people groups.

Global Engagement
Our Global Engagement Intern works directly with the Director of Field Mobilization on the Mobilization Team. Our intern will develop a key component of our missionary recruitment pipeline by equipping field teams to recruit new missionaries for their teams. This includes connecting virtually with missionary teams and other Pioneers mobilization gateways to facilitate interviews, gathering information about missionary team needs, writing various communication pieces and creating and implementing the strategies needed to develop this essential part of the pipeline.
If you love writing, connecting with people and developing an organizational system, then this is the role for you!
Hospitality
Our Hospitality Intern works directly with the Hospitality Services Director on the Hospitality Team. This is a fast-paced and versatile position where our intern will assist and execute event logistics that serve Pioneers missionaries who are visiting the Orlando base, along with understanding the sale, communication and execution of hosting external events at Pioneers. Whether you are setting up for the day of an event or creating feedback assessments so our team can make future improvements, this position dives into all the nitty-gritty details of how to serve others through the best practices of hospitality.
If you have a passion for event planning and an entrepreneurial spirit and strive to go above and beyond to exceed customer expectations, this is the role for you!
Grant Writing
Our Grant Writing Intern works directly with the Global Projects Coordinator on the Advancement Team. This internship has the best of both worlds: half of it is writing and the other half is working with missionaries and Major Gifts Officers to build relationships with foundations and donors.
If you love writing and connecting with people, this is the role for you!
* Please upload 2-3 writing samples in your application. These could be papers you’ve written for a class, online articles, short stories etc.
Develop Your Professional Skills
Whether you are connecting with donors or evaluating the impact volunteers can make in international communities, you will develop transferable professional skills that will prepare you to thrive in future work environments.
Thrive in a Christ-Centered Community
You will work alongside Pioneers staff who are dedicated to investing in your professional and personal development. You will also enjoy forming authentic relationships with fellow interns, creating a fun-loving community that is characterized by teamwork and mutual respect.

You will see the inner workings of Pioneers, which uses innovative and creative means to bring the gospel to every corner of the globe. From global church workshops to meetings with experienced international workers, you will gain greater insight about how God will use your unique gifts, skills and talents to engage and partner with the global church.
Who should apply to Pioneers’ Orlando Internships?
We are looking for professionals who:
- Are positive, passionate and hardworking with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and a strong commitment to Christ.
- Can commit to working a minimum of 20 hours a week for ten weeks during the summer.
- Can attend a three-day mandatory orientation during the first week of the internship.
- Have reliable transportation to our Orlando office (located in Lake Nona) and a phone and laptop they can use to work.
- Enjoy being part of a fun and energetic team that is determined to give every people group the opportunity to hear the gospel.
* This internship also can count towards college credit if you are a student and your school approves it.
When is the program?
Our internship is a 10-week summer program. The 2025 program will take place from May 20–July 31.
How do I apply?
You can start writing this chapter of your story by:
- Choosing the intern position that is the best fit for you.
- Submitting your application and resume through our online portal. A cover letter is not required. Only Grant Writing Intern applicants will be asked to submit additional documents.
After we review your information, we’ll contact you!
*Application deadline is February 2, 2025.
Is this a paid internship?
Our internships are volunteer based and unpaid, which is why we only ask our interns to serve a minimum of 20 hours/week for 10 weeks. Pioneers provides housing and transportation costs for interns who live outside of Orlando. Apartment rentals in our area range anywhere from $2,500 to $3,500 a month, and these high rates would make even paid internships difficult. Free housing makes this internship possible for interns each summer.
Some other ways our interns have financially prepared themselves for the summer are:
- Applying for an internship scholarship through their college. If you are a student, we encourage you to check if your school offers that opportunity.
- Raising personal support through their local church.
- Working part-time and saving before the intern program or working part-time while serving in the intern program.
In addition, we are committed to showing appreciation to our interns! Each intern receives thank you gifts, intern community lunches, an Intern Appreciation Week and end of program celebration, as well as a great professional experience to put on your resume.
*NOTE: The IRS considers any housing payments made by businesses or nonprofit organizations as taxable income. It is the responsibility of the intern to determine how much tax they owe and make payment to the IRS in the following year.
What happens after the internship?
We hope each of our interns will finish our program with:
- Professional skills that will open doors to future opportunities.
- A deeper understanding of missions and the many ways they can be involved in missions and the global church.
- Authentic relationships and a strong Christ centered community.
Since our program started in 2021, three former interns were hired to work at Pioneers Orlando base, two interns joined Pioneers-International and two other interns were hired at different non-profit organizations. While these outcomes are not guaranteed for every intern, our interns are equipped with highly marketable skills after they finish the program.
What’s Your Story?
God is writing a story about your unique role in missions and the global church. We want to invest in your professional, personal and spiritual development so you can be equipped for the next exciting chapter of your story!
